Keeping it Simple

We’ve all heard the saying, “keep it simple, stupid.” But as humans, we seem to be hardwired to look for complexity. So we are suspicious of things that are too simple – how can it possibly be effective?

Fitness trainers tend to overcomplicate things. This is especially true when it comes to exercise. There are so many different training styles, exercise formats and methods that it can be confusing for people just starting.

As a group fitness instructor, I have always gravitated to something I could deliver to a large group of people. So when I started teaching group fitness, I wanted my classes to be fast-paced and packed with energy, but I also wanted them to be efficient for my students and myself. This has drawn me to simple tools, probably why I found the Gymstick so appealing.

I have been using the Gymstick for years now. It’s a great tool that keeps getting better and better.

Gymstick is for everyone!

The Gymstick is effective because it can be used by anyone, from beginner to advanced athletes, young or old, and it can be modified for all fitness levels.

My favourite thing about the Gymstick is that it forces you to engage your core throughout the entire exercise set. As a result, your torso muscles are always working, and your posture is always correct because you have to stabilise yourself to perform any movement correctly with this tool. I believe that when you are forced to engage your core throughout an exercise set, it makes the workout more efficient and effective.

Gymstick uses functional movement patterns

Gymstick is excellent because it breaks down basic functional movements into simpler components and can be done anywhere, anytime. In addition, it is super portable and easy to use. This makes Gymstick accessible for people who are travelling or don’t have access to a gym and weights. These exercises emulate movements that work many muscles in coordination with your entire body.

But hands down, the best thing about the Gymstick is when I see, as an instructor, someone getting their lightbulb moment during a workout, and this usually happens within the first 3 minutes of a Gymstick Muscle workout. It’s this ah ha, oh my God moment when they realise how user-friendly this very simple tool is.

But I will call out the elephant in the room regarding Gymstick. The general attitude in the fitness industry is that Gymstick is not a ‘viable’ piece of fitness equipment because it does not weigh anything and is too ‘simple’ to be effective. How can a stick and two rubber bands possibly give you a complete workout?

In fact, Gymstick has been around for over 20 years and has been used by millions of people around the world.

Gymstick is used worldwide

Gymstick is a proven product with a long history behind it. However, when it was first introduced into the marketplace in 2003, it was not accepted by many people as a piece of effective training equipment. Many people were sceptical because they had never seen anything like it before and therefore didn’t know what to expect from using it! Fortunately, today there are far more people who believe in its effectiveness. Gymsticks are used in gyms and by physiotherapists, sports coaches and fitness trainers worldwide.

A simple tool like Gymstick can be used in just about any situation that requires physical exertion. As a result, Gymstick is an excellent all-around fitness tool for those looking and ready for a change. Slowly but surely, our industry is learning that simpler does not have to mean less effective.
