Discover the Power of Gymstick

Invented in Finland by a team of fitness and health experts from the Finnish Institute of Sport, the Gymstick has transformed the landscape of resistance training. This ingenious tool was designed to offer comprehensive strength and conditioning benefits for the entire body, making exercise accessible and effective for everyone. Today, Gymstick is embraced by fitness enthusiasts, professionals, and athletes in over 30 countries worldwide, thanks to its unmatched versatility and efficiency.

Who Can Benefit from Gymstick?

Gymstick is a game-changer for a wide range of individuals, including:

  • Athletes looking to enhance performance and stability.
  • Fitness professionals seeking innovative tools for client engagement.
  • Physiotherapists incorporate functional training into rehabilitation.
  • Seniors maintain balance, strength, and mobility.
  • Rehabilitation patients rebuilding joint stability and coordination.
  • Fitness enthusiasts looking for variety and a challenge.

Why Choose Gymstick?

Unlike free weights, which rely on gravity, Gymstick bands create resistance in virtually any direction, allowing for dynamic, multi-directional movement. This makes it ideal for replicating free weight exercises while offering enhanced control and adaptability.

One standout feature is Gymsticks ability to challenge the core continuously. With resistance originating below the body’s centre of gravity, even basic movements activate the core to stabilise against the pull of the bands. This added instability also strengthens joints, enhancing overall stability and reducing the risk of injury.

Key Benefits of Gymstick Training

  • Functional Strength and Endurance: Engage multiple muscle groups in integrated movements.
  • Balance and Joint Stability: Improve proprioception and coordination through dynamic resistance.
  • Variety in Exercise: Add new dimensions to traditional routines by moving beyond gravity-dependent resistance.
  • Injury Prevention: The bands’ attachment below the centre of gravity reduces strain on joints and tendons.
  • Portability and Accessibility: Lightweight and compact, Gymstick is perfect for home workouts and travel, personal training, or group fitness classes.

Choosing the Right Resistance

Gymstick caters to all fitness levels with five resistance options:

  • Green: Light (1–10 kg)
  • Blue: Moderate (1–15 kg)
  • Black: Strong (1–20 kg)
  • Silver: Extra Strong (1–25 kg)
  • Gold: Super Strong (1–30 kg)

This colour-coded system ensures everyone, from beginners to advanced users, can find the perfect level for their needs.

Personal training with the Gymstick

As mentioned, the Gymstick can be used in one-on-one personal training sessions. The advantage a Gymstick offers is that the trainer plays a more active role, as they effectively control the level of resistance provided to the client. Trainers can actively adjust the resistance during exercises, providing real-time feedback and customising the intensity to match their client’s needs.

Exercise Spotlight: Chest Press

  • Setup: The client holds the stick at chest height in a split kneeling stance, while the trainer stands behind, managing band tension.
  • Execution: The client extends their elbows, maintaining a strong core. The trainer adjusts resistance by stepping back.
  • Progression: Come to standing and introduce a hip extension or single-leg donkey kick during the chest press to challenge balance and coordination.

This progression integrates multiple movements into a single exercise, showcasing the versatility of Gymstick.

Exercise Spotlight: Triceps Extension

  • Setup: The client lies supine with knees bent, gripping the stick, while the trainer secures the bands to the floor behind the client.
  • Execution: With elbows bent and 90° to the torso, the client extends arms to full range and lowering with control, while to trainer manages the band tension.
  • Progression: Add a bridge or single-leg bridge to enhance core and glute engagement.

Exercise Spotlight: Abdominal & Quad Combo

  • Begin: In a supine position with the bands attached to the feet and the trainer anchoring the Gymstick behind the client with the stick tucked securely behind their knees.
  • Execution: Alternate leg press. Extending 1 leg forward bringing the heel towards the ground.
  • Progression: Double-leg press, with both legs extending forward together. This can be advanced by completing the double leg press holding the legs forward and initiating a hip abduction/adduction.

Why Gymstick Works

Gymsticks ability to combine multiple movements in one exercise makes it unique. It engages the whole body while allowing for creativity and progression. The trainer’s active role adds a layer of feedback and customisation, making every session more effective and engaging.

Don’t just take our word for it—experience the difference yourself! Gymstick turns traditional resistance training into an imaginative, multi-dimensional experience. With endless possibilities for progression and variation, it’s a tool that evolves with your fitness journey.
