A question that pops up for me frequently is – am I still doing what I am doing for the right reasons?
The reasons that were so profound to me at the beginning and started the internal fire that we often call passion…
Passion – a desire so strong it drives beliefs, decisions and finally actions. Passion also has a price – for a lot of people, it is pretty high. It often means to be driven, vocal, to push through boundaries, to be unpopular, and sometimes to be controversial. Passion can be quiet or a roar, but regardless, it is the reason.
Why discuss passion this month? – below are some examples of what I see as passion.
I could not start a new segment without mentioning the one person who has always been incredibly supportive, encouraging and enlightening to so many people in the fitness industry, including myself. This woman, although faced with insurmountable challenges personally and professionally, has never wavered her belief in her purpose. Her role has been difficult, yet the fitness industry could not survive without her input.
This woman is Jennifer Schembri-Portelli or affectionately known as JSP. Jenni is a close personal friend, and cool thing about having your own newsletter, you can write whatever you want – so I will.
Acknowledging that the group fitness coordinator role is one of the most challenging roles within a fitness facility, this informative two day workshop will provide you with the detailed knowledge and tools to be an effective team leader and to navigate the challenges that face all coordinators.
Day two topics to be covered will include:

Often when two dumbbells are used, the stronger, more able arm will compensate for the weaker side. When only one dumbbell is in use, a difference in strength is highlighted. This is advantageous for the client, instructor and personal trainer as muscle imbalances can be observed and rehabilitated.
Begin with standard moves that are used in a regular workout and apply the single dumbbell concept. This will gradually introduce participants to exercises that require more balance, proprioception, coordination and core stability. Exercises like a basic jog can use the single dumbbell in a number of ways, one example shown below.
I’d like to THANK YOU SO MUCH for the Aqua Extravaganza workshop in NZ! It was fantastic. The way you delivered it, all the information you gave us plus your experiences…it was really interesting. I learnt a lot and let me tell you, yesterday I took my first aqua aerobics class… and it was great! I was able to choreographed 60 min class 😉 Good feedback from participants and even from the aquatic centre.
Marietta will demonstrate how tempo and rhythm used effectively can mould the moves and excercises within a class format. Take the opportunity to lead your class on a musical journey that will leave them refreshed, uplifted and smiling. This session is aqua with attitude (this session is a completely equipment free class)
