Swiss ball classes provide numerous benefits. Increasing and developing…
The Swiss ball is well known for it’s adaptability for muscle conditioning exercises, what perhaps is lesser known is it’s versatility for cardiovascular exercises.
Upright Non Impact
Upright Non Impact are exercises that can be performed on the spot without moving the feet. Lunging, squatting and ball bouncing activities are effective in raising core temperature and increasing range of motion, which is ideal for a warm up or a moderate cardiovascular workout. When the Swiss ball is used for muscle conditioning exercises, the torso is often moving through an extended range of motion, so it is important that in a warm up those ranges of motion are explored. Forward flexion, rotation and lateral flexion are all used in abdominal and back exercises, therefore it is imperative to work through these actions earlier in the class. The key point here is that it is non impact. There are not many non impact options available for warm ups or cardiovascular workouts that are appropriate for either a group exercise class or a personal training session. This is ideal for most people though contraindicated for those with knee issues that may restrict lunging movements. |
